If you’re making a mage in4story there are a few things u should know before doing that. This might make it a bit easier to makeup one’s mind.
Mage first of is a ranged fighting class that means mages are better to fight with when u have someroom/range between you and your opponent.
Mages specializes on powerfulmagic, as in game Fire, Ice and Lightning. All their damage attacks are with fire and ice. All of Buffs are in the category Lightning. Mage’s have three Skill trees. Fire/Ice/Lightning
First of I want new players to know what mage’s are known for. High Damage and Stuns, Stunning an opponentmakes him unavailable to move or use skills for the time period stun was for.
In Fire tree you have the mosthated (By other players) stun. Fear/Hell flame, what makes this so hated iswhen you do that to an opponent he panic and runs in circles unable to doanything. Another Stun mage’s have is Freeze in the Ice tree. Makes an iceblock out of your opponent, but be aware a few classes can escape freeze.
In the time you keep your opponent stunned you have the time to do enormous damage. Pillar of Lava is thefastest and most used damage skill for mage’s. It throws like a lightning bolt of Lava through your opponent unleashing 200% damage. Flame missiles are also a common and good damage skill. When you learn the skill it generates 3 missiles of 35% damage making in total 105% damage, but as your character levels up you can upgrade that skill to 6 Missiles of 35% that’s 210% damage.
Mages have the ability to get a skill called Lightning Magic. This reduces the cool down on all skills. This means you can Stun Lock an opponent, which means you can if you time your stuns right keep an opponent unable to do anything while you’re damaging him and keep fearing and Freezing him. This is what makes mage’s fun to play and probably the most hated class in the game for those who do not play mage.
I also want to point out that mages have 3 Area Attacks and 2 of them are AOE’s. The difference between AOEand Area Attack is basically that an AOE keep hurting around you for the period that skill was for and an Area Attack can be one blast and ending after that.
Ice Rain is the strongest Area Attack also an AOE that mage’s have. Aurora of Iciness is second strongest, andthe Area Attack that mage’s have is Ice Storm.
If you decide to make a mage Irecommend trying out the different skills and in the process of making one thinkahead. When u reach level 80 the skill points stop coming and if u didsomething you regret with the skills you could have avoided that with planningout the skills beforehand. There is a skill planner on the website.
I also want to point out mages are weak in terms of defense, so u might want to save skill points for ManaProtective Barrier so you can have that Max’ed out before level 80, the ManaProtective Barrier is almost like a defense shield adds some Physical defense to your mage. Planning your skills is important as well as reading and testing the skills.
Mages are an all-around character that can be used for everything in the game. Farming is almost aspecialty because of the 2 AOE’s, also PvP’ing because of the high damage and Stuns.

very nice representation of the class nubs:) but mages can also fight close combat and gives an added advantage for AOE to work freeze to happen and archers not to attack:)

basically all the skills in the ice region are more or less aoez furthermore fear is also an aoe but it does not cause damage so......

It isnt perfect guys, but big all might be aoes, but what i mean in the build-skills is that aoe is continuing dmg. i've never seen AOE, and someone goes fear.. ect..
